Team member in the area of climate adaptation and landscape planning
The topics and tasks are diverse and varied. They include the preparation of expert reports and concepts for climate impact adaptation and natural climate protection, with a focus on the environmental sector (including forest/forestry, nature conservation, agriculture) and spatial planning (including urban and landscape planning). Sub-aspects of this include the research, analysis and visualisation of geodata and, in particular, remote sensing data, as well as the exchange of information with specialist stakeholders on integration possibilities in municipal tasks. An important part is the conceptual and editorial work with scientific as well as generally understandable concise expression in German. Presentations and participation formats for various stakeholder groups are further important components of the project work.
What we are looking for:
- Successfully completed university or university of applied sciences degree in geography, geoecology, environmental sciences, environmental planning, landscape planning
- Professional experience, e.g. in the field of municipal tasks, landscape or urban planning, participation of municipalities and stakeholders on environmental/climate issues or in the field of science communication
- Good knowledge in one of the areas of nature conservation, (landscape/environmental) planning, agriculture, forestry or other land uses and environmental systems
- Good knowledge of geoinformation systems (ArcGIS/QGIS) and MS Office
- Independent, self-reliant and results-orientated work with initiative and enjoyment of working on new topics, conceptual work and method development
- Interest in taking on project management activities
- Graphic design skills to present results to the public would be a plus, but not a prerequisite
- Confident manner and good communication skills in dealing with clients and stakeholders (e.g. authorities and interest groups)
- Very good written and spoken German
- Teamwork and open communication
Team member (scientific collaboration) in the conceptual development of remote sensing services
Permanent full-time position in the field of remote sensing
The area of responsibility includes
- Design and development of remote sensing services for nature and climate protection applications at national and European level.
- Development of concepts and standards for the integration of remote sensing data, AI and IT in environmental monitoring and policy advice.
- Analysis of requirements from environmental policy, nature conservation and climate adaptation (e.g. NATURA 2000, Nature Restoration Law, European Green Deal).
- Collaboration in research and pilot projects for the validation and further development of innovative remote sensing methods.
- Preparation of technical reports, concept papers and presentations for internal and external partners and public bodies.
- Support for networking and integration of the developed services in national and European initiatives.
What we are looking for:
- A university degree (Master) in a relevant field (e.g. geography, geoecology, environmental sciences, remote sensing, geoinformatics, environmental planning, forest sciences).
- Experience in the design or development of remote sensing applications, ideally in the context of environmental policy or nature conservation.
- Sound knowledge of remote sensing technologies, geographic information systems (GIS) and common data processing methods.
- Ability to analyze complex requirements in a structured way and to develop practical solutions.
- Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration, ideally in teams related to remote sensing, AI or IT.
- Strong communication skills and a confident manner in dealing with authorities, research institutions and political stakeholders.
- Very good written and spoken German and English skills.
